How To Use The UpLULA® universal pistol magazine loader

If you’re an avid gun enthusiast or someone who regularly shoots at the range, you know that reloading your pistol magazines can be tedious, painstaking for us older shooters, and time-consuming. In our Uplula Handgun Speed Loader Review, we’ll look at a product designed to save the day and thumb.

What is the Maglula UpLULA?

Compatibility with the UpLULA

Although the UpLULA® is compatible with most pistol magazines, there are some exceptions. In this Uplula Handgun Speed Loader review, we’ll supply a breakdown of the caliber, firearms, and magazines we know work and don’t.

Firearm Compatibility

One of the most significant advantages of the UpLULA® universal pistol magazine loader is its wide compatibility with a vast range of firearms. It can load magazines for popular pistol models such as Glock, Beretta, HK, Sig Sauer, Kimber, Smith & Wesson, CZ, Springfield, and many others. However, some magazine exceptions or handgun models with magazines won’t work. We have listed the ones we know of below.

It works with most 1911s and striker-fired pistols, although MagLula does have an attachable base for some 1911s. We had no trouble with any 1911 magazines we tried, even without the base. It may go without saying, but the UpLULA® wouldn’t be needed for revolvers.

Caliber Compatibility

The UpLULA® universal pistol magazine loader is designed to work with a wide range of calibers.. It can load magazines, including 9mm, 10mm, .357, .40, and .45 ACP, covering the most popular handgun calibers. .380 ACP and .22 LR require an optional adapter.

Magazine Compatibility

The UpLULA® universal pistol magazine loader is designed to be compatible with a wide range of magazine types. It can load single and double-stack magazines, commonly used in popular handgun models. Single-stack magazines, such as those used in 1911 pistols, have a single column of cartridges, while double-stack magazines, such as those used in Glock and Smith & Wesson M&P pistols, have two columns of cartridges. The UpLULA® can also load magazines with various capacities, including those with 10, 15, and 20 rounds.

With its versatile design, the UpLULA® makes it easy to load magazines regardless of the type or capacity. This feature is particularly useful if you own multiple handguns with different magazine types, as you can use the UpLULA® to load all your magazines with one tool.

Excluded Handguns

If you go to this link on the UpLULA® I am confident you can get an updated list, but at the time of this blog, the UpLULA® loader did NOT load the following:

• S&W 7 round 9mm SS for models 908, 3913, 3953 & 3954 (Beak too wide, does not enter between lips). It will load the S&W Shield magazine.
• Glock G37, G38, G39 .45 G.A.P. mags (Beak will not retract from the mag.)
• Kel Tec PMR-30 mags.
• SMG magazines, for example, MP5, UZI, COLT 9, CZ Scorpion, SIG MPX, HK UMP, B&T APC, and STEN mags.
• Staccato 2011 9mm
• Luger P08 (Parabellum) 9mm (The angle of the rounds in the mag is too steep)
• Rounds longer than 33mm, like 9×23 Win, .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .357 Max., .41/.44 Rem. Mag., .44 S&W Special, .45 Colt, .45 Win Mag., .50AE.
• It may not load the last round in a few types of mags.
• Mags with less than 8.0mm between their lips.

Step by Step How the Maglula UpLULA works?

The Maglula UpLULA uses a simple but effective design that allows you to quickly and easily load your pistol magazines. Here’s how it works:

• Step 1: Set your magazine on a flat surface and set the UpLULA over the top of the magazine.
• Step 2: Depress the loader
  • Once the magazine is in place, squeeze the loader to compress it. Guide the UpLULA metal tongue onto the follower and push down on the follower.
• Step 3: Insert the round
  • With the magazine follower compressed, you can now insert a round into the magazine. It will go in with very little effort.
• Step 4: Release the UpLULA
  • With the round in the magazine, unsqueeze the UpLULA.
• Step 5: Repeat step 2, but instead of placing the tongue on the follower, you will place it over the top of the round in the magazine. Place it over the round, squeeze the UpLULA again, and push down on the round, thus pushing down on the follower and spring.
• Step 6: Place the next round in, and repeat this process until the magazine is full.

Repeat inserting rounds into the loader and pushing them down into the magazine until the magazine is fully loaded. You can then remove the magazine from the loader and repeat the process as necessary.
